Zacarias Semedo to be expelled?

Written by redop at 14:28 15/3-2011

Today Portuguese cycling fans had they eyes in Germany as redop gathered an historic result at Germany Tour Stage 4, occupying now the top 2 places of the GC with YY and VA, while portuguese Saturnin Garrido gives Team Wells the 3rd spot in the podium.

However this was an expensive stage for redop, with the loss of Gualter Alcântara due to an injury:
"I was keeping a high tempo at the front for Assis and Yamauchi, all team was feeling good so I pushed it hard in the descent just before the last climb... too hard cause the road was not very clean and I slipped to the floor. My elbow got injured, will know shortly the extent of the injury, but looks like my contribution to the team in Germany is over."

Shortly after these words by Alcântara, a message was posted by Zacarias Semedo in a social network:
"Out of good teammates in Germany? Maybe because they were left home?
I knew you would regret keeping me out of Germany mister kissmyass elleniko...
Good luck in getting results now in any classification... with me the YC was guaranteed!
  Only got what you deserved"

Zacarias Semedo was transfered from CycleMotor at the end of last season, and redop scouts guaranteed he had the potential to win Top division races.
During this season he has however been criticized after refusing team mate duties during the Volta ao Porto. He was given new chances at Cymru Taith and Perm Tour, but in both occasions he decided to refuse orders to help his captains and try his own luck at key moments of the races, an attitude that severely diminished redop's chances of success at those tours. He did indeed personally benefited from his bad behavior securing podium places at the Youth Classification at each of those tours.
"Semedo is a talented youngster, but he's also a little kid with bad temper. After Perm we were done with him, no more chances until an attitude change, but that didn't happen yet, and so he was left out of Essex Tour, Germany Tour and will also miss Nederlandse Tour.
With today's attitude more severe measures must be made, and after a short meeting with the staff it was decided that he will not have a place within the team for the next season.
We are already engaged in talks with lower division teams where he can be the captain he wants to be. Hopefully he'll find non-cooperative team mates that make his life has hard as he has done with Yamauchi and Assis, and maybe he'll learn his place as a team player.
I expect that in a month he'll be begging for a return to redop, willing to carry water for the team every race."
